It's time for the New FO linky party over at Cat Patches.
I didn't get a lot of sewing done this month, it's lazy summer.
I made the quilt for my fantastic MIL which she'll be getting later this month for her birthday
I'm thrilled with this one and I'm pretty sure she'll love it.
I was asked to make a repeat quilt but in "boy colors", which immediately turns me into a whining three year old, dragging my feet and wanting my whole crayon box. But I finished it and it's really pretty, silly me.
I didn't have the right blue for the sashing so rather than run north I pulled out my dyes and came up with the perfect color.
I spent quite a bit of a week dying fabric and have these all left over
I dyed them in containers instead of a pot and now I'm really hooked, this way I don't dye the sink, counters or my hands, WooHoo.
So that's it for July, on to August and more adventures. Don't forget to check out the other links at the FO linky party, remember you only have to start something, no finishes required :)
Your "boy" quilt is fab, not to mention the MIL quilt - if she doesn't happen to like it, I'll send you my address! Great finishes as well as beginnings!ReplyDelete
I love the humming bird quilt and bing a lover of blue - think that is a wonderful little boy quilt.ReplyDelete
These are beautiful, Dana. You really have a knack with color. I have never tried dyeing my own fabric. Maybe I will give it a try one of these days.ReplyDelete
What!? You have an adventure and tease us with no details. I am die-ing to know about your dye-ing adventure. What dye, what pot, what combo. No details....I may need to send and extra load of poopReplyDelete
for you to clean up!
I see there are already second dibs on the hummingbird quilt, so I will say how much I love the boy quilt. The blues are beautiful, so calming. I have no idea why you would want the whole crayon box... :) lol!
Your MIL's hummingbird quilt is gorgeous! She is sure to just love it. I like your repeat quilt in boy colors too. You picked some really nice fabrics for it. I'm with Debbie... tell us more about your dye-ing adventure!ReplyDelete
Nice job on both quilts.ReplyDelete
