Opinions Please

I started a new quilt this morning, a log cabin with fussy cut butterflies for the center. After making one block, I felt that the butterfly may be getting lost in the busyness of the fabric, so I made another block, framing the butterfly. I have solids of blue, turquoise and yellows, which I would use, so they won't all be hot pink.

Which do you like better?

Framed

Unframed

I'm lost in overthinking this. Help!

  1. I think the framed highlights the butterfly a little more. Both blocks are beautiful.

  2. Framed gets my vote. why put work into the center and have it get lost. Trust your instincts....they are right on.

  3. The framed block certainly highlights the center more, and I think even adds to the other logs. Great fabrics!

  4. Definitely framed, and I think a mixture of colors on the frame will be gorgeous!

  5. I like the framed better, but not sure about the color of the frame. I know it matches the butterfly.

  6. I like the framed one better. You're right, without the frame, the butterfly gets lost.

  9. Your butterflies are beautiful! I think framed is good because it shows the butterflies better but the ohter one is also lovely. Perhaps mixing both. x Teje
