Whoops, I have last years badge.
With the end of another month it's time for Let's Book It over at Vroomans Quilts. I'm so glad Sharon decided to continue this linky party, I got rid of 4 magazines this month, the pile is getting smaller.
This month I found my quilt in The Quilter Magazine Dec/Jan 2010-11
I almost passed this quilt by because the colors didn't appeal to me
but, I went back through with my mind on hearts for Feb. and decided this was good with some changes.
I changed the colors and the size of the block (actually I didn't read any of the directions) and came up with this
My favorite greens and aquas with hot pink and that splash of orange made it perfect.
I had just the right fabric for the backing
Can you see those tiny pink hearts?
Then I quilted it light in spots and heavy in others, so it has great texture while staying nice and soft.
I love it! It's a new year and the perfect time to join in the fun, you're working off of your own punch list so no excuses.
Later Gators,
Dana
Well it certainly inspired a beautiful quilt. Oh my , I had a lot of that backing fabric at one time and was my favorite to back baby quilts. Perfect for your hearts. Fun quilting for great texture and cuddliness - well done.
ReplyDeleteI also, sometimes, just see a quilt, and make it, no pattern. I also tend to change it up at the same time. It's more fun that way (most of the time, at least).
ReplyDeleteHope you saved that magazine....I don't have that issue :) Wonderful version in just your color and style......and yes, we love that backing fabric to finish it off. I like the texture of the quilting and that you thought about the softness when done. It reminds me of Tequila Sunrise!
ReplyDeleteI like your version much better than the original. The backing is perfect and so is the quilting. Beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet. Love your style.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love it! Great quilting too. Is there a 2015 badge? Now I have to go look.
